Get Started on Your Vision Board
Let’s get started on your vision board. A Vision Board is a collage of images, pictures, and affirmations of your dreams, goals, and the things that will make you happy. This board is designed to motivate you to pursue your dreams and do what is required to achieve them. There are many names for this valuable tool. Some call it a dream board, a treasure map, or even a vision map. We will help you create your vision board, but before getting started, let’s, understand what it is and what you’ll need to do to make sure your board accurately reflects what you want to accomplish. It is essential to realize that creating a vision board can be a highly effective and useful tool to help you visualize your goals. It can ultimately be the way that you gain and maintain your high level of motivation.
Often people hope and wish for things to occur. They want to accomplish specific goals, but they often leave out the “Why” for achieving these things. Your vision board should contain everything that you wish to buy, secure, or realize. These things will serve as motivation for you to wake up, work hard, study, and do what must be done to achieve your dreams.
When developing your vision board, there are three specific things that you must do.
First, you must think about your goals. Truthfully, thinking about your objectives does not give service to what you must do to visualize what you want to achieve. In other words, you will need to meditate on your dreams, which is a higher level of thinking. You must go beyond some general or vague idea of what you want to accomplish. You must give full consideration to what will make you happy, what will allow you the freedom and luxuries you desire. You must be able to look back at your life and know that these things help you to live your life on purpose and without regret. Visualizing these things will help you create a vision board that can put you on the path to happiness.
Next, there are some critical answers to questions that you’ll have to discover for yourself. Below. We have provided a downloadable pdf and questionnaire that will help you answer these crucial questions. If you answer these questions, you will be well on your way to identifying what you will need to know and what must be done to achieve it. These are the questions.
- What is your view is a good life?
- What makes life valuable or worth living?
- When you are on your deathbed, what will you have hoped to accomplish?
It is obvious, but these questions go beyond the purchase of material things. These are fundamental questions that require substantial answers.
Finally, you must break down the big questions and to smaller units. There is a common question that encapsulates this step. How do you eat an elephant? The answer is one little bite at a time. You cannot achieve your goals and live your dreams by devouring the entire idea or purpose. You must identify small goals that you can accomplish that will help you to make the larger goals. So these are the more trivial questions to the broader questions asked in the previous section.
- What specific activities do you want to learn how to do?
- What hobbies and activities do you already do, but want to continue doing or get better at?
- What are your career goals?
- What steps will you have to accomplish along the way to be able to land your dream job or build your dream business eventually?
For example, do you need to master a specific skill, attain a higher level of education, or get mentorship to learn what you must to achieve your dream? What are your relationship goals? Would you like to get married and have children? As you are aware, relationships are quite a bit more flexible today, and getting married may not be your goal. What will people say when you were gone? In other words, how will others remember you? Have you written a book that impacts millions? Have you contributed to a charitable cause? Have you done something positive to influence other people’s lives?
Now, based on these three steps, you must decide upon what you’d like to focus. Remember, a vision board is not an isolated event. It is real and will encourage you to wake up when you are tired, push through when you are struggling and do what you must even when things are tough. Therefore, develop a board based on who you are and what you wish to become. While others matter, this board is all about you and your dreams and vision for the future.
